Feeding Programme

Aims to provide food and nutritional support to 1000 children in 3 local partner schools in Zambia.

In the 2024 Global Hunger Index, Zambia ranks 115th out of the 127 countries with sufficient data to calculate 2024 GHI scores. With a score of 30.7 in the 2024 Global Hunger Index, Zambia has a level of hunger that is serious.

The purpose of this project is to establish and sustain a school feeding program in which GHZ is present. By providing daily nutritious meals to students, GHZ aims to address the challenges of hunger, malnutrition, and low attendance rates in the schools, ultimately improving the quality of education and increasing student participation in schools.

High School Sponsorship

The youth program was introduced in 2012 with the theme “Fit, Fitter, Fittest”. Its objective is to promote emotional, mental and spiritual development of its members as well as encourage responsible citizenship through very engaging discussions and activities. The group meets every Sunday and has covered topics ranging from relationships, health, Self esteem, Love, Education, Talents, Community, God and the church.

Empowerment Project

GHZ supports various empowerment programs such as sewing initiatives for women and carpentry projects for the youth.

The carpentry project, also known as the Joseph project, is a program that seeks to equip and train young men in the community in carpentry and designing skills. Since last year the project has equipped 15 young men that desire a change in their lives.

Other empowerment initiatives such as small scale farming and animal rearing are also encouraged.

Health Project

We have partnered with qualified medical personnels from Kaunda Square Clinic who have helped us run our mobile clinics. The mobile clinics consist of a general checkup, in which blood pressure, weight and other vitals are checked. It also includes talks on health issues such as sexual reproductive health, prevention and treatment of HIV/ AIDS and general hygiene.

Water Project

In most of the communities, Water is a big challenge as they mostly depend on the open well water source or shallow water which in most cases, is contaminated. By providing an increase in quantity and quality sources of water, we will bring change in most of the communities - e.g. reduced health issues where everyone has access to good and clean water.

College Scholarships

As indicated above, one of the focus areas for GHZ projects is education: from primary through high school and now for a select group of students, through college or a technical school. It is in this area that GHZ is requesting assistance through this proposal.

These scholarships are allowing students that come from areas where making it through primary school is often a challenge - much less high school - to actually go to college. These select students would never be able to imagine such a possibility without the assistance provided through this program.

GHZ is committed to seeing that these young people who have successfully completed their secondary education are able to become teachers, nurses, accountants, etc. That their dreams become a reality.

Our local partner organisation in Zambia is Grassroots Heroes Zambia (GHZ). Together with our support, they implements these projects on the ground.
